Police say their search of Melbourne's Port Phillip Bay for two people who were on board a plane that crashed on Sunday is now "solely a recovery mission". Emergency services were called to The Esplanade at Mount Martha at 1:45pm on Sunday after two Marchetti Viper S-211 light aircraft collided midair about 12 kilometres west of Mornington. One aircraft made it back to Essendon Airport but the other one crashed into the water in Port Phillip Bay, the Australian Maritime Safety Authority [AMSA] said.
